Red-tailed Hawk preening - New Jersey

Adult female Red-tailed Hawk preening its feathers:

Preening, cleaning feathers with a beak, is one of the most overlooked behaviors of birds. Just think how meticulous and gentle birds are and they using their beaks only. 

I photographed this Red-tailed Hawk nest in Passaic County, NJ.
