Black Skimmers ( Rynchops niger ) flying low above the water - Nickerson Beach, New York

Blue hour coincided with perfect conditions for these young birds to practice just learnt skill of skimming. For about 20 minutes, I had opportunity to photograph these youngsters and never saw them catching anything. For that reason, I believe this was their practice flight 😉
